Do you enjoy food? Do you get on well with other people? Would you like to work in a Christian independent school environment where every student is known by name? Then this is a fantastic opportunity for you to join a well-motivated and successful team within our highly successful Food & Hospitality department.
No previous experience is required, but a love of cooking, baking and organising are important. You need to be able to work hard and carry heavy packages as the work can be fairly physically demanding.
This role is ideal for those seeking to join a highly successful school and work closely with our superb and highly experienced Food Teacher who will line manage you in this role. You will work alongside another technician who has been in role for a year.

Duties include:
Preparation of resources, including weighing out ingredients;
Setting up practical lessons for all our Year 7, 8 and 9 lessons;
Supporting the teacher and students in practical lessons;
Ensuring safe storage and transit of ingredients;
Maintain the stock and equipment for classes to use;
Stock taking, ordering resources and ingredients;
Washing up!
Maintaining a healthy, safe and productive environment in the school's prep rooms and cooking rooms; in line with HACCP and Food safety (training given)
Ensure that equipment is properly cleaned and that all materials are appropriately stored;
Help maintain an up to date list of equipment and resources;
Support the work of teachers in class and before/after school;
Give technical advice to students;
Carry out monitoring of all students’ allergies (appropriate training given)
Supporting extracurricular clubs and activities;
Contributing to the whole school ethos.
The basic working format of this role is part-time, Wednesday to Friday starting at 8am and finishing at either 1:30pm or 3:30pm. It is a term-time position; however, we may discuss some very occasional holiday working with the successful candidate. We could consider a job-share for the right colleagues if two people want to apply together. Please contact us to discuss these options and the hours further.
Candidates will need to be good at getting along with other people, proactive, organised, (very!) tidy and good communicators. The ideal applicants will have a strong track record of being responsible and diligent with an eye for detail. A good amount of patience is also crucial in any role in school working with teenagers!
