Food Technician job summary

Are you organised, practical, and passionate about supporting students in their learning? Do you have an interest in food preparation and maintaining a safe, efficient environment? If so, we would love to hear from you!

We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Food Technician to join our Design & Technology team. You will play a vital role in supporting the teaching of Food Technology by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring health and safety standards are met.

What We are Looking For:

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Confidence using ICT and maintaining accurate records

A calm, flexible approach and willingness to learn

Food Hygiene & Safety certificate (or willingness to complete)

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and maintain food areas, equipment, and materials for lessons

Assist teachers and students during practical sessions, ensuring safe working practices

Manage stock levels, order supplies, and shop for ingredients when required

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards, including deep cleaning when necessary

Support health and safety compliance and complete relevant checks and records

Our Aims:
We aim to equip all students with the adaptability and flexibility to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world and to promote a sense of responsibility towards others, the school and the wider community. A broad and balanced curriculum is provided for Years 7 to 9. Staff Well-being at The Grange

The Grange takes staff well being seriously. We are committed to and have signed up to the DfE Education Staff wellbeing Charter. We have an active staff wellbeing working party, which is open to all staff to join and meet regularly to talk about staff wellbeing needs across the school.

There is an active staffroom, where people go at break and lunch and regular staff lunches. In addition, there are staff activities should you wish to join, such as book club, sport, yoga, walking trips, visits to the theatre and art and craft activities and workshops.
