Forest School Lead & Cover Supervisor job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and committed individual to join our team as a Forest School Lead & Cover Supervisor.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine a passion for outdoor learning with a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school.

The purpose of the role is to deliver high-quality outdoor learning through Forest School provision alongside supporting teaching, learning and behaviour across the school. The role combines leading Forest School sessions with providing classroom cover and targeted support for pupils, including those with SEND, through individual and small group interventions, supporting pupils’ academic, social and emotional development to ensure all pupils are safe, engaged and make good progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver engaging Forest School sessions
  • Develop and promote an outdoor learning ethos
  • Provide whole-class cover and deliver pre-planned lessons
  • Deliver targeted interventions for individuals and small groups, including pupils with SEND
  • Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development
  • Adapt learning to meet the needs of all learners
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • A Forest School Level 3 qualification
  • A relevant Level 3 qualification
  • Experience working in a school setting
  • Experience delivering learning to groups or whole classes
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including small group or 1:1 interventions
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child development
  • Passion for outdoor learning
  • A positive outlook to ensure the children are at the heart of all your actions.
