Hawley Primary School is looking for an experienced, motivated Maths Lead Teacher to join our team in September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to combine full-time teaching with leading our Maths curriculum and driving improvements in pupil progress and outcomes. We're looking for an excellent practitioner who is passionate about Maths, has strong leadership potential, and wants to make a real impact on teaching and learning across our school.

This full-time position includes:

  • A teaching commitment (year group to be discussed) alongside leading Maths across the school.
  • Leading and developing the school's Maths curriculum from EYFS to Year 6
  • Regular protected leadership time (half a day fortnightly) for monitoring, planning and staff development

As Maths Lead, you will:

  • Lead, manage and develop the school's Maths curriculum to achieve high standards for all pupils
  • Monitor and evaluate Maths teaching and learning through observations, book scrutinies and data analysis
  • Support and coach colleagues with planning, assessment and differentiation
  • Lead staff training and professional development in mathematical pedagogy
  • Develop and monitor Maths provision particularly in Early Years and Key Stage One
  • Manage the Maths budget and ensure resources are used effectively to accelerate progress
  • Work with Leadership Team to set and achieve ambitious maths targets across the school

The successful candidate will:

  • Have at least 3-5 years' teaching experience with a proven track record in Maths
  • Demonstrate excellent Maths subject knowledge and pedagogical understanding
  • Show creativity and passion to inspire pupils and staff to achieve their full potential
  • Have experience (or strong potential) in leading, coaching or mentoring colleagues
  • Be able to analyse data and use it to drive improvements
  • Recognise and understand the SEND and trauma needs of children today, ensuring all children flourish
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents
  • Be reflective, solution-focused and committed to continuous improvement
  • Be a friendly, collaborative member of our staff team

Hawley Primary School is a inclusive, happy school, where our staff promote independence, creativity and enthusiasm for learning.
Hawley Primary School was founded in 1854, is maintained by Hampshire Education Authority and serves the area of Blackwater and Hawley. The school is situated in the region of Farnborough, Frimley and Camberley and within easy access of the A30 and the M3.

The school has seen many changes since its foundation and now comprises eleven classroom bases, a food technology area, our Fiction Factory Library areas, an ICT suite and developing a range of engaging outside learning spaces such as a science-enquiry pond, the imaginary playzone and trim trail.
