The Federation of Heathfield and St Francis Schools provides high‑quality education for pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including moderate, severe and profound learning difficulties. We are seeking a highly skilled, dedicated and enthusiastic SEN teacher to lead our Primary Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated practitioner who believes in empowering pupils with complex needs to achieve their very best.
We are looking for a Primary Department Lead who:
- is an experienced Primary SEN teacher (essential)
- has EYFS training
- has strong knowledge and experience of working with pupils with SEND
- demonstrates excellent teaching and classroom practice
- can plan, implement and evaluate high‑quality learning
- can tailor individual programmes for pupils with complex needs
- can motivate, lead and develop staff and foster collaborative practice
- communicates effectively with parents, carers and multi‑agency partners
- has strong organisational skills and initiative
Preferable experience (training can be provided for the right candidate):
- EYFS training
- experience of teaching pupils with SLD and complex ASD
- use of TEACCH approaches
- knowledge and practical use of AAC, including a range of communication strategies
Exceptional Candidates – Leading Practitioner Route
For very exceptional applicants with the right level of expertise, experience and impact, we would be willing to consider appointing to the role as a Leading Practitioner, with responsibilities for modelling and developing high‑quality teaching and learning across the school.
