As an Inclusion Advocate, you will work at the heart of our school to identify and support the individual needs of our SEND students, through a collaborative approach with senior leaders and teaching staff. You will work closely with the Inclusion Lead and SENDCo to ensure consistency in support strategies for our learners. You will act as a bridge between teaching staff, parents, and pupils, providing the practical and emotional support necessary for students to hit their academic targets and develop lifelong independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborative Planning: Work with teachers to assist in developing Pastoral Support Plans and Regulation Plans. Collaborate through “Solution Circle” meetings.
  • Mentorship: Maintain daily contact with assigned pupils to encourage positive attitudes, social skills, and self-reliance.
  • Partnership: Engage effectively with families and external practitioners to deliver holistic support for children. Work with external practitioners such as Education Psychologists SEMH outreach, to develop support strategies to use within the school environment.

  • Experience: Previous experience working within a primary school setting and have previously supported learners with SEND, particularly those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Qualifications: GCSEs/O-Levels and a relevant Level 2 qualification (Level 3 is desirable).
  • Skills: A clear understanding of how to provide outstanding learning support, manage behaviour effectively, and use ICT effectively.
  • Knowledge: A thorough understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding legislation, and SEND Code of Practice.
  • Qualities: High-level communication skills and the ability to inspire and motivate others
