General Administrator job summary

We are looking for a General Administrator to join our Operations Team at Leeds West Academy for a one-year period of maternity cover.

This is a varied and important role supporting the day-to-day organisation of the academy and helping to ensure that students, families, staff and visitors experience a professional, responsive and welcoming service. Working as part of our wider Operations Team, you will contribute across a range of administrative functions, including communication, records and data, reception support, academy events, and wider operational administration.

We are looking for someone who is organised, accurate and proactive - someone who enjoys working with people and who can respond positively when priorities change. At times, you will be one of the first people through whom families, visitors and external partners experience Leeds West Academy, so warmth, professionalism and excellent customer service are particularly important.

You will need strong administrative and digital skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Experience of working within a school would be useful but is not essential - we also welcome applications from candidates who can bring strong administrative and customer-service experience from other sectors.

The academy’s operational need for this post is primarily between 08:00 and 16:00, ensuring consistent support across the school day. We are keen to attract a strong field of applicants and recognise that some candidates may require a degree of flexibility, so for the right person we would be open to discussing how the working pattern could be arranged while still meeting the core needs of the role.

We are proud that Leeds West Academy is a happy and inclusive school and we warmly encourage prospective applicants to come and see this in action. If you have any questions about the role or would like to arrange an informal visit, please contact Libby White, Operations Manager and PA to the Principal, at white.l@whiteroseacademies.org. This is an opportunity to meet members of the team, see the academy and gain a better understanding of the role before applying.

Please note this role will involve contact with children and you will be engaging in regulated activity. It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
