What skills and experience we're looking for

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have relevant qualifications and experience in working with children

  • Have knowledge/experience of the Early Years Framework and completed training or delivered/supported wok in a phonics program

  • Have practical experience of working with small groups of young children

  • Be flexible in their approach to suit the needs of the children

  • Have high expectations of all children

  • Be willing to take part in relevant CPD in order to support the children

  • Be able to work with outside agencies and communicate with parents

  • Be able to be flexible and adapt day to day demands of the role

Additional requirements:

  • Two references confirming suitability for the role

  • Commitment to safeguarding

  • Eligibility to work in the UK

  • Able to provide evidence of police checks for any time spent living or working abroad

We are recruiting for a highly effective Teaching Assistant who will support in our Nursery/Reception/Year 1 class (initially) and work with children in our Early Years class. We are a small village primary school so flexibility to work in other year groups across our school is necessary.

Our church school is an academy within the Leeds Diocesan Learning Trust. Our school benefits from the support and infrastructure gained by working collaboratively with other schools and educational partners across the trust.

Working under the direction of the class teacher, you will support in the classroom and outdoor provision playing a key role in the children’s education. You will support the class teacher to develop the provision and direction of learning in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for our nursery, reception and Year 1 children. As an effective team player, you will play a key role in driving forward improvement in this area of school. Alongside our staff you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.
