What We’re Looking For:

  • Good knowledge of regulatory frameworks for academies, including governance, health and safety, and data protection.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills to work with staff, trustees, and external regulators.
  • A proactive approach to compliance and governance challenges.

What You’ll Do:

  • Ensure compliance with the Academy Trust Handbook, health and safety regulations, data protection laws (GDPR), and safeguarding policies.
  • Provide expert advice on compliance matters, conducting internal audits, and overseeing risk management.
  • Support the Board of Trustees, ensuring effective governance by preparing reports, maintaining accurate records, and advising on best practices.
  • Deliver training and guidance to staff on compliance and governance-related responsibilities.
  • Play a key role in maintaining a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Job purpose:

The Governance and Assurance Professional (GAP) at Parkwood Hall Co-operative Academy plays a critical role in ensuring the school operates in full compliance with statutory, regulatory, and governance requirements. This includes adherence to Company Law, Charity Law, the Company Articles, our Funding Agreement, the Academy Trust Handbook, the Academies Trust Governance Guide, health and safety regulations, data protection laws, and other legal frameworks governing relevant academies and special educational settings.
