Governance Clerk job summary
The Skinners’ Company is looking to appoint an organised, reliable and professional Governance Clerk to provide practical administrative support to our academies’ local governing bodies.
This role would be ideal for someone who is confident with administration, has strong attention to detail and is able to support formal meetings, however, would prefer flexible working hours. The Governance Clerk would be joining the Skinners’ Company Governance Team which consists of a full time Head of Governance and a full time Governance Professional.
The role will involve preparing agendas and meeting papers, attending scheduled governance meetings, taking notes to supplement AI-generated minutes and maintaining governance records. The majority of meetings are scheduled in advance and take place in the evening, however much of the preparation and follow-up work can be arranged flexibly around agreed deadlines.
This would suit someone who is comfortable working independently as well as part of a team, and understands the importance of confidentiality, accuracy and professionalism in a school environment.
Previous experience of minute taking, governance, education administration or committee support would be helpful, but training can be provided for the right candidate.
This is a fixed term position until 31st August 2027.
What we are looking for:
A good standard of written English.
Accurate minute-taking or note-taking skills.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
A discreet, confidential and professional approach.
Confidence using email, documents and basic online systems.
Availability to attend scheduled governance meetings, including evenings.
Flexibility to attend occasional ad hoc meetings.
What we offer:
A genuinely flexible, part-time role.
Work arranged around the academies’ governance calendar.
A supportive environment with clear expectations, support and guidance.
