Governance Officer job summary
Are you highly-organised, detail-orientated, and an excellent administrator? We are seeking a Governance Officer to play a vital role in ensuring the effective operation of governance across our Trust.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working collaboratively and thrives on accuracy. No previous experience in a similar role is necessary, but you would have had previous experience as a competent administrator in an educational or other professional setting. The role offers flexibility through hybrid working, with an average of 14 hours per week, including some evening meetings.
Working closely with the Trust Board, Local Governing Committees, and senior leaders, you will provide expert clerking services, professional guidance, and high-quality administrative support. This role is essential to maintaining strong, compliant, and efficient governance that enables our Trust to deliver the very best outcomes for our students.
Key Responsibilities
As our Governance Officer, you will:
Provide professional clerking and administrative support for the Trust Board and its committees.
Ensure the Trust’s governance arrangements operate efficiently, effectively, and in full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Support the implementation and ongoing operation of governance processes in line with the Trust’s Scheme of Delegation.
Act as a key point of reference for procedural advice, enabling Trustees and Governors to focus on strategic priorities.
Organise and manage meeting logistics, including the preparation and circulation of agendas, papers, and reports.
Accurately record minutes and follow-up actions, ensuring clear, timely and compliant documentation.
