This role is offered on an annualised hours basis, with a total of 266 hours per year. These hours are worked flexibly across the academic year to meet the needs of the governing body.

Work is not evenly distributed week to week. The majority of hours will be worked during term time to support governing board and committee meetings, with lighter periods during school holidays. Attendance at scheduled evening meetings is required, and occasional daytime meetings may also be requested. The role also includes time for preparation, minute taking, follow‑up actions, and ongoing governance support.

The annualised hours arrangement provides flexibility in how working time is organised, while ensuring that the total contracted hours are fulfilled over the year. Any hours worked in excess of the contracted 266 hours will be paid as overtime in accordance with the School’s policy.

About the Role

Oakwood is a large and expanding school of over 1600 students. We have split the population into ‘Years’ which enables the students to be cared for in smaller units. Each student also belongs to a House and we encourage a community ethos. The students are loyal and enjoy the friendly rivalry around House activities. Their personal development is also central to the school ethos.

Our priority is to shape our school to fit the students’ needs and aspirations, rather than fit students to the school. For this reason, we adopt the Pathways Approach, where we help students ‘Learn to Learn’. Opportunities for elements of vocational pathways exist as well as accelerated progress and Gifted and Talented opportunities.
