This is more than a clerking job. Its about influence and integrity. You will work closely with the Head of Governance to deliver a governance framework that meets statutory requirements and supports strategic decision making. You will be the link between Local Review Boards, Principals, and the Trust Board, ensuring that communication is clear and actions are followed through.
Your work will include planning the annual governance cycle, preparing agendas and papers, advising Chairs, and taking accurate minutes. You will support panels for exclusions and complaints, maintain records, and help recruit and train new governance members. You will also play a role in data protection, responding to information requests and promoting good practice.
Stakeholder engagement is at the heart of this role. You wont just manage processes you’ll build relationships. You’ll work with Principals, Chairs, and senior leaders, providing advice and guidance that helps them make informed decisions. Your credibility and communication skills will make you a trusted voice in the room.
We know that work-life balance matters. That’s why this role offers remote working up to four days per week and the option of term-time plus days for the right candidate. We also know that careers matter. You’ll have access to CPD, governance training and opportunities to progress into more senior roles.
As part of RMAT, you will join a team that values wellbeing and professional growth. You’ll have access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, giving you security for the future. We offer generous annual leave for all year round roles, so you can balance work and life.
Your wellbeing matters to us, which is why we provide employee assistance and support services. We make travel easier with mileage reimbursement for journeys between sites, and we equip you with modern digital tools built on Microsoft 365 to make your work efficient and collaborative.
You will need strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the confidence to advise senior leaders. You will be highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities, and committed to high ethical standards. Experience in governance or education is desirable, but if you have the right skills and values, we want to hear from you.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and we will consider reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010. If you need an adjustment to support your application or interview, contact HR for a confidential discussion.
