What skills and experience we're looking for

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Management: Provide strategic leadership to the Art and Design department, ensuring a culture of high standards, creativity, and achievement.

• Curriculum Development: Design and implement a stimulating and forward-thinking curriculum that meets the needs of all learners, while also reflecting the highest expectations for academic and artistic success.

• Teaching and Learning: Lead by example in delivering high-quality teaching that fosters innovation, creativity, and technical skill development. Ensure that all students are equipped to achieve exceptional outcomes in Art and Design.

• Assessment and Achievement: Monitor and track student progress rigorously, using data to identify areas for improvement and ensuring high achievement across all key stages.

• Staff Development: Support the professional development of Art and Design staff, promoting a collaborative environment that encourages continuous improvement and professional growth.

• Extracurricular Enrichment: Lead and support extracurricular opportunities, including exhibitions, workshops, and clubs, to further enhance the artistic experiences and achievements of students.

• Facilities and Resources: Oversee the effective use and development of the department’s facilities, ensuring that students have access to high-quality resources that support their learning and creativity.

Person Specification

Essential:

• Proven track record of outstanding teaching and leadership in Art and Design.

• A passion for creative education and a commitment to fostering high achievement and high standards in students.

• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire both students and staff.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to monitor and use data to improve student outcomes.

• A commitment to the mission of Glenmoor and Winton Academies, with a focus on preparing students for the best academic institutions and career opportunities.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in a leadership role within a school environment.

• Experience of developing successful extracurricular programmes in Art and Design.

• Familiarity with working in an academy setting
