Job description

The Head of Autism Support services will lead a small team of support staff working with ASD pupils within our Special school. The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher with knowledge of strategies to teach children and young people with ASD and learning difficulties. They will be required to pass their skills onto others, including taking a lead on training; running both parent courses and clinics .

The role will also include some teaching commitment.

Undergraduate degree

Essential qualifications

Qualified teacher Status

Essential skills and experience

 Teaching experience of pupils with SEN in either mainstream or special
school setting.
 Ability to promote high standards of behaviour amongst pupils and
respect for others
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Competent ICT skills
 Knowledge and understanding of current educational legislation and
Initiatives
 Qualification in teaching children and young people with ASD
 Understanding of a wide variety of strategies with which to teach children and
young people with ASD
