Visitors comment on the warm atmosphere and the high levels of participation in extra-curricular activities that encourage students to foster and nurture their skills and interests beyond the confines of the curriculum. We are proud of our inclusive school community and there is a real passion for teaching and learning in a supported and welcoming atmosphere that inspires risk-taking and creativity. As a school, we are committed to developing the whole person and it is a place where you can really engage students in their learning and develop as a teacher.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Biology Teacher who has high expectation of students and themselves and who will motivate and inspire pupils to achieve their best at The Latymer Grammar School. The Science Department is well organised, resourced and provides a supportive working atmosphere for staff. All lessons are taught in modern laboratories as practicals form a large part of our practice.

Our biology results are very high, the most recent externally graded results in 2024 being 88.9% of students achieving grades 7-9 at GCSE (with 41.1% achieving grade 9 and 72.1% achieving grade 9/8). The AQA Triple Science course is followed at GCSE and classes are taught by subject specialists from Year 9. All our sciences are popular options at A Level and AQA AS/A2 course is followed at KS5, graded results in 2024 being 96.5% of students achieving grades A* - C at A Level (with 22.8 achieving grade A* and 61.4% achieving grade A*-A).

This is a full-time and permanent position with a competitive salary and would suit a dedicated and inspiring teacher to lead a well-equipped and thriving Biology Department. The ideal candidate will have exceptional subject knowledge and the ability to engage and motivate students through dynamic and inspiring teaching. This role offers a chance to take on a leadership position within the department, working with enthusiastic students who are eager to learn.
