Head of Computing

1fte (part time considered)

TLR2a £3527

Required from 1st September 2026

We are seeking to appoint an inspiring and forward-thinking Head of Computing to join our “inclusive and vibrant school” (Ofsted, 2024). At the heart of our school is a strong culture of positive relationships between staff and students, and we place great value on creating an environment in which students feel respected, supported, and motivated to succeed. Computing sits within the Business and Computing/ IT Faculty at the school. The successful applicant will be an innovative practitioner with a passion for Computing and a clear commitment to leading high-quality teaching and learning across the department where we currently offer the subject from Key Stage 3 to A-Level (including GCSE Computing). You will play a key role in ensuring that students at all Key Stages are supported, challenged and able to achieve their full potential.

You will be leading a small but enthusiastic and dedicated team committed to delivering an engaging and impactful Computing curriculum. The department benefits from six purpose-built computer rooms located within our new school building, which opened in September 2024, providing a modern and well-equipped environment for teaching and learning. With excellent facilities and robust technical support, the department offers an outstanding setting in which both staff and students can flourish.

As Head of Computing, you will provide clear leadership of the curriculum, overseeing its development and ensuring that students achieve their very best. The Computing curriculum is continually evolving, and the successful candidate will be someone who embraces change, remains responsive to developments within the subject, and is keen to adapt and refine the curriculum whenever necessary. You will support and develop colleagues; monitor the quality of teaching and learning, and ensure that students develop the knowledge, creative thinking and problem-solving skills needed to succeed in an increasingly digital workplace. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of Computing within the school and make a meaningful contribution to the wider school community.

Kineton High School is an oversubscribed, diverse and mixed 11-18 comprehensive with approximately 1100 pupils on roll (180 in the Sixth Form). Our aim at Kineton is to put students at the heart of everything. We want them to develop the confidence, skills and qualifications to ensure that they are happy and successful in their next stage of life or learning, wherever that might be.

We offer:

  • Excellent career development opportunities
  • Strong support and mentoring for Early Career Teachers
  • An environment where there are positive relationships between students and staff
  • Strong CPD and career development opportunities

This is an excellent opportunity to join an ambitious school where 'students are supported to achieve their personal best' (OFSTED 24) and a department which is very successful. We welcome colleagues who really want to make a difference to the lives of young people and who share in our passion for engaging students in learning and inspiring them to achieve. If you can motivate and inspire students and have high expectations of them and yourself, then we would love to hear from you.
