Are you a passionate and dynamic history educator ready to lead a thriving department and inspire the next generation of historians? Risedale School's successful Humanities Faculty is seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as Head of Department: History.
About the Role:
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and driven individual to lead and develop the History curriculum, fostering a love of learning and achieving strong academic outcomes. You will be responsible for:
Implementing a stimulating, engaging and well-sequenced curriculum: ensuring consistency and excellence in teaching and learning across the department.
Leading and managing colleagues: providing strategic direction, support, inspiration and guidance to the team.
Delivering inspiring and engaging history lessons: utilising innovative teaching methods to captivate and challenge pupils and modelling great practice to colleagues.
Raising pupil attainment: implementing strategies to improve academic performance and ensure all pupils reach their full potential.
Fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment: creating a space where pupils feel valued and motivated.
Contributing to the wider Humanities Faculty: collaborating with colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience.
About You:
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic history specialist who:
Possesses a strong track record of successful teaching.
Demonstrates a deep understanding of history curriculum and assessment requirements.
Is passionate about inspiring pupils and fostering a love of learning.
May have leadership experience or at least an understanding of strong curriculum leadership.
Is innovative, creative, and open to new ideas.
Is resilient, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
May have experience teaching the Pearson specification at KS4.
