What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint a highly capable and inspirational Head of Food Technology to lead a growing and successful department. This is a fantastic opportunity for an outstanding Food Technology teacher seeking to take the step into Middle Leadership or an experienced Head of Food Technology looking for a new challenge.
The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge, strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire our pupils with outstanding and engaging teaching. Our students are a delight to teach, and we foster an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect.
The successful applicant will lead the department in what is a very popular subject at Toynbee. At Toynbee, Food Technology is a standalone department and whilst the subject is taught within the rotation of technologies at Key Stage 3, the successful applicant would be responsible for all aspects of Food Technology at this stage. At Key Stage 4, Food Technology is one of the GCSE choices that pupils can make, and over the past three years this has proven very popular after being reintroduced to the curriculum as an option subject a couple of years before. The department is built on solid foundations with a commitment to continual improvement in all areas, especially the curriculum and teaching and learning, with the focus on all improvements impacting pupil outcomes.
The Department currently follow the OCR exam board course at GCSE level.
The successful candidate will:
§ Be committed to supporting all pupils to achieve their “Personal Best”
§ Be forward thinking, visionary, receptive to change and able to work under pressure.
§ Have aspirations for further promotion
