What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a highly qualified candidate, who is an inspirational teacher and has demonstrable impact in the classroom. Working with a highly experienced head of faculty, this is an exciting opportunity for an existing leader or someone wishing to take their first steps into leadership. You will be enthusiastic and passionate about your subject and be able to inspire and motivate staff and students.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Develop and enhance the climate for learning in geography within the humanities faculty;
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead and manage the professional development of colleagues;
  • Be able to make a sustained, wider contribution to the school.

What the school offers its staff

Geography is taught to all students throughout Key Stage 3 and is one of our most popular option subjects at GCSE. All humanities subjects are also offered at Key Stage 5 and several students go on to study humanities related courses at higher education each year. Examination outcomes at GCSE & A-level are strong. Wollaston School is a large, rural community school located in a village setting about 15 minutes drive from Northampton. The student intake draws on nearby villages and the towns of Earls Barton, Wellingborough, and Irchester. We have over 1400 students on roll with approximately 240 students in the Sixth Form. The school is over-subscribed. Wollaston School was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in May 2023.
