Head of Health and Social Care job summary
It is an exciting time to join Bournside school and our popular and oversubscribed school continues to go from strength to strength.
We are seeking to employ a well organised and committed candidate to lead the Health and Social Care department at our school. The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner who is able to teach Health and social Care at both key stage 4 and 5. We currently offer the BTEC Tech award to years 10 and 11 and the Level 3 Extended Certificate through Edexcel in our thriving sixth form; both qualifications are highly popular with our student body. The successful applicant will be responsible for the leadership of our current provision, and for leading the expansion of this provision to include the Diploma qualification at key stage 5 from September 2019. The ability to teach sociology up to A level is desirable.

Bournside is the largest comprehensive 11-18 school in Gloucestershire. We are an established single academy trust with a good reputation (Ofsted ‘Good’ rating 2022), wide catchment, and a strong presence in the community. Our school is consistently oversubscribed with a PAN of 300, and most of our students choose to stay with us for their
post-16 study.
Bournside is a mixed, non-denominational academy school for students aged 11 to 18. It is located in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. It settled in its current location of Warden Hill in the early part of the 1970s and converted to academy status in 2011.
