Job Purpose including main duties and responsibilities:
Provide professional, strategic leadership, vision and development of the History department. Implement and ensure the deliverance of high quality teaching to students, which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential whilst guaranteeing internal and external quality standards. Raise standards of student achievement. Monitor and support the progress of students across all key stages.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1 Have overall responsibility for progress and attainment of students in History.
2 Monitor, evaluate and quality assure the effectiveness of teaching and learning within the History department.
3 Carry out the performance management of staff in the History department, in line with school policy.
4 Lead the team of teachers responsible for delivering History throughout the school.
5 Be responsible for the development and implementation of the curriculum.
6 Present and represent the work of the team to other groups and individuals.
7 Be responsible for planning and ordering resources for the History curriculum, and manage relevant systems such as examination entries.
