Head of History job summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Head of History to lead our dynamic History department at Trinity Academy. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and committed History specialist to shape the future of History education, inspire a love for the subject, and drive outstanding student outcomes.
As Head of History, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a knowledge-rich curriculum, ensuring all students have access to high-quality History education. You will lead and support a team of dedicated History teachers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within the department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the History department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Implement the rigorous, knowledge-rich curriculum across all key stages.
- Inspire and support students to develop a deep understanding and passion for History.
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of History teachers to enhance pedagogical expertise and student outcomes.
- Monitor student progress and implement strategies to support achievement across all key stages.
- Work collaboratively with senior leadership to promote History education within the wider school community.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE:
- A strong academic record, ideally with a 2:1 degree or above in a history-related subject.
- A deep passion for History, with expertise in historical knowledge and pedagogy.
- Proven leadership experience or a clear vision for leading and developing an outstanding History department.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire both staff and students.
- A commitment to high standards and a drive to raise achievement in History.
- An unwavering belief in the power of education to transform lives, in line with our trust’s motto, libertas per cultum (freedom through education).
