What skills and experience we're looking for

An extremely exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Leader who is ready for the next step in their career; this follows the successful promotion of the current post-holder to Headship. As a Federation of Schools, who have a proven record of providing future leaders of education, this non-class-based ‘Head of School’ post is an ideal stepping stone to Headship. Our unique leadership structure ensures that the successful candidate will be fully supported to take the lead and autonomy in driving future success whilst providing the overall leadership and management of the Junior School. The successful candidate will benefit from the support of an experienced Executive Headteacher, Federation SENDCO, Director of Teaching and Learning and a Head of School in our Infant School who mirrors the same role and responsibilities as this post.

Within the last year, both schools have retained ‘Good’ Ofsted ratings with many exemplary features. Our reports capture and celebrate the effective leadership and management, positive behaviours, a rigorous curriculum and a caring, dedicated staff team where wellbeing is at the heart of all decision-making.

We are looking for a person with the ability to build capacity in staff – you must be personable and committed to building excellent relationships with all key stakeholders. Experience working within Key Stage Two is essential, although this need not be within your most current role. In return, we can offer you friendly and dedicated colleagues to work with in order to further drive innovation and change in setting the future direction of our Federation.

To help you decide if Netley is the next school for you, our children want you to know that:

  • “The best thing about our school is that it is a community for everyone”.
  • “From reading to Taekwondo, you can do everything here”.
  • “We love having the opportunity to work with younger pupils in our federated infant school”.
  • “We love the responsibility and roles we are given; I love being a library monitor”.

Our staff want you to know that:

  • “We have a supportive, approachable middle and senior leadership team”.
  • “We have a great team ethos with collaboration across the federation”.
  • “Our well-being is considered, we are well looked after; I don’t want to leave”.
  • “I love the community spirit and the fact we have autonomy and creativity within our own practice. Our voices are heard and we have opportunities to further develop professionally.”
  • “Across our federation we have established a strong culture of safeguarding”

Our parents want you to know that:

  • “You will find clubs suitable for everyone”.
  • “Teachers always have the best interests of children at heart”
  • “I love the fact that my child has the opportunity to learn in a rich environment with local walks and pond dipping”.
  • “I was delighted to see the space and facilities on offer and the use of the local area”.

If a non-class based leadership role, with a team-working ethos under the direction of our Executive Headteacher is something that interests you; please do come and visit us for a tour of our lovely school. Our friendly pupils, exceptional staff and forward thinking governing body would warmly welcome you. Please contact the school office on 02380 453731 or by email juniors@netleyabbeyschools.co.uk

Application Packs are available on our school website under: our School/Vacancies tab. Completed application forms should be returned by post or email to the Executive Headteacher: Mrs Shirley Nicholas-Bond by 12 noon on 17th April. Interviews will take place in the week commencing 22nd April 2024.
