HEAD OF LEARNING SUPPORT job summary

Full-time – Permanent Pay Scale: MPS / UPR + TLR £6,828 pa Closing Date: Wednesday 19th February 2020 Interview Date: Tuesday 25th February 2020 Start Date: Easter 2020 or September 2020 An exciting opportunity has arisen in this fantastic school, for a Head of Learning Support to lead and manage the provision for SEND. This person will develop the teaching and learning of colleagues in order to maximise the progress of every learner within the Learning Support Faculty. The Head of Learning support will work with colleagues from across Endeavour Learning Trust in developing the provision for students and ensuring the Trust vision is delivered. In our schools we have a relentless focus on excellence, high standards of behaviour but with the pragmatic emphasis on the balance between challenge and support, high expectation and nurture. And this counts for students and staff, teaching and non-teaching, so that our schools develop a family ethos, where everyone wants the best for everyone else. Burscough Priory Academy is undergoing a transformation, having joined Endeavour Learning Trust on September 1st 2018. Already we have found Burscough Priory students to be hard working, willing and enthusiastic and keen to work with their teachers and support staff to get the very best out of their school days. In addition, the team of staff currently in place are completely committed to the rapid and sustainable improvements currently taking place, firmly rooted in the existing good practice already evident in other schools in Endeavour Learning Trust. This is a school that is going places. For our staff, we are firmly committed to ensuring this is a job that can be enjoyed, where everyone can flourish. We pay close attention to work/life balance and, across the trust; we are developing strategies that take a common sense approach to those aspects of the role that could become an unnecessary burden on workload such as feedback and marking and centralised detentions. We have a strong, consistent behaviour policy where staff are fully supported in their teaching and students understand the consequences of their actions. In our team, therefore, our teachers are committed to continuously improving the classroom experience of our students with a genuine desire to improve the life chances of our young people. If you think this sounds like a place you would like to develop your career and leadership and your love of teaching then you can apply online.

Commitment to safeguarding

Endeavour Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and individually take responsibility for doing so.

Please note that in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, an online search will be carried out as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates.

Thank you for your interest in the Head of Design Technology vacancy at Burscough Priory Academy.

We are a small and thriving community school, within the Endeavour Learning Trust family of schools. Since joining the Trust, we have made rapid and sustained progress over the last three years, with the vision of being a ‘Great school at the heart of the community.’

At our school you will find a caring, ambitious and inclusive community; one that is dedicated to celebrating the potential and uniqueness of everyone. To support this commitment, there is a strong curriculum, inspirational and challenging teaching and learning and outstanding pastoral care. In November 2022, this was recognised by Ofsted and we were judged a ‘Good’ school.

The relationships that are fostered in school between the children and staff are exceptional. We are very aware of our responsibility as a school at the heart of our Burscough community and we know that excellent relationships with our parents, staff and within the wider community are crucial to the success of the children. Our motto is, ‘E Pluribus Unum,’ which translates as ‘Out of Many, One.’ You will feel a distinct feeling of togetherness, working as one to make sure our children feel safe, valued and well supported.

Our family ethos is tangible; we work as a team and we want the best for everyone. But we are also staunch in our commitment to doing this in a way which protects the wellbeing of our staff and our students. Our commitment to reducing workload is non-negotiable. We seek to thrive; individually, together, in our classrooms, staffrooms, schools and right across the Trust.

We hope the information in this pack give you a flavour of who we are and what we do. If you have any further questions about the role please get in touch.

We look forward to receiving your application.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs L MacLaren
