What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking an ambitious, innovative, and inspirational leader to lead our Mathematics Department and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of teaching and learning at De Aston School.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a qualified teacher of Mathematics with QTS and a strong track record of success at Key Stages 3 and 4, with experience at Key Stage 5 highly desirable.
  • Be an outstanding classroom practitioner, with the ability to secure consistently strong outcomes for students of all abilities.
  • Demonstrate clear vision and strategic thinking, with the ability to translate ideas into sustained improvement and measurable impact.
  • Have experience of leading, motivating, and developing staff, fostering a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and reflective practice.
  • Show a strong commitment to evidence-informed pedagogy, curriculum development, and continuous improvement.
  • Be resilient, self-aware, and values-driven, with a genuine passion for improving students’ life chances.
  • Be committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and contributing positively to the wider life of the school.

This role would suit an experienced middle leader or an aspiring leader ready to take on a significant and rewarding role.
