About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and vision-driven Head of Mathematics to lead our Maths Department. The successful candidate will combine strong subject leadership with an inclusive, high-expectation approach to mathematics education.

Key Responsibilities & Criteria

Catholic Ethos & Values Integration Promote and embody the Catholic ethos of the school within the school.

Subject Leadership & Academic Attainment Work collaboratively with maths teachers to raise standards, track student progress, and implement evidence-based teaching strategies. Lead curriculum design across Key Stages to ensure stretch, challenge, and tailored support that drive measurable attainment and progress.

Targeted Support & Curriculum Access Oversee targeted interventions for individual pupils, small groups, and whole classes. Ensure pupils with SEND, disadvantaged backgrounds, or learning gaps receive the necessary scaffolding and support to access the full maths curriculum and experience a genuine sense of achievement.

Organisation, Leadership & Communication Demonstrate high-level organisational capability and exceptional interpersonal skills. Communicate clearly and effectively with departmental colleagues, senior leadership, parents, and pupils to align on shared academic goals.

Teamwork & Enthusiasm Bring passion and enthusiasm for mathematics to the role, inspiring both students and colleagues. Lead by example, supporting staff professional development (CPD), sharing best practices, and building a collaborative, high-performing team.

Safeguarding & Student Welfare Maintain an uncompromised commitment to safeguarding, child protection, and pupil well-being, ensuring a safe, supportive learning environment across the department always.
