About the Academy

Outwood Academy Redcar welcomes students aged 11-16, located in the scenic coastal town of Redcar near Middlesbrough in the North-East region.

We strive to provide a comprehensive and inspiring learning environment where students can develop technical skills and a passion for design and technology, preparing them for future challenges in a rapidly evolving world.

Our academy is known for its warm and supportive environment, with a focus on inclusion and providing opportunities and experiences beyond the classroom for our students. There is a real sense of togetherness within the team of staff, who work closely to consistently manage our high standards, creating a calm environment conducive for learning and achievement.

More about the Role

This is a crucial departmental leadership position of responsibility: the person appointed will provide academic and pedagogical leadership of the department and will work closely with the Senior Leadership team as part of our commitment to putting ‘Students First’. You will be an inspiring leader with the energy and creativity to lead and motivate a team. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students.

You will be an excellent teacher with the experience to deliver in KS3 and KS4. You will also have the leadership qualities to challenge individuals within your team whilst supporting them to achieve outstanding results. We are committed to delivering the best possible mathematics curriculum and the Head of Department will be working strategically with Trust mathematics leaders, a network of outstanding Heads of Mathematics and Senior Leaders across the Outwood Family of Schools.

There are significant opportunities for your own continuing professional development through the Trust should you wish for either Senior Leadership in school or becoming a Director of Mathematics across a number of academies within the Family. Here, there is the opportunity for you, longer term, to develop your mathematics leadership skills and have a wider impact supporting a larger number of colleagues and students.

You will be joining a highly innovative, inspirational and ambitious organisation, so we are seeking outstanding candidates who can realise the highest possible quality of services to support our educational vision. Your strong leadership potential and ability to provide effective support to colleagues will enable the organisation to achieve the best possible outcomes for all of our students. This appointment represents an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to contribute substantially to the ongoing success of GCSE outcomes.

Please contact Lee Johnson, Principal at l.johnson@redcar.outwood.com for an informal discussion, or to arrange a visit to the Academy.
