A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and inspiring Head of MFL (Spanish) to join Derby Cathedral School as it continues to grow in terms of numbers and success.
An 11 – 19 secondary school which opened in September 2018, was established by Derby Diocesan Academy Trust (DDAT) and Derby Cathedral to help meet the need for additional high-quality secondary places in the Derby area. The school has had a successful start and is currently over-subscribed for every year group. There are currently three cohorts of students in school with a further cohort due to join in September 2021, and every subsequent year until full. We will be opening a sixth form provision in September 2023. We will have 720 students in September 2021 across Years 7 to 10.
Derby Cathedral School is the first ever Church of England Secondary school in the Diocese. Currently under construction, we will be moving to our new state-of-the-art building in September 2021. This is located close to the city centre and regular updates showing the construction progress can be seen on our website.
The school equips students with skills and qualifications that enable them to access high-quality careers in and around the city of Derby and beyond. The curriculum offer is broad and balanced and our specialism in Mathematics and Music is enhanced by strong links with the Cathedral Choir and Music Department, which has a track record of music tutelage. The curriculum specialisms and our character values, based on the acronym FAITH, are a key part of the school vision and represent a platform from which we build high levels of personal development, well-being and achievement from Year 7 onwards.
Location: Just on the edge of the beautiful Peak District National Park, Derby is just 15 minutes from the M1 junction 24 and accessible via the A6, A50, A38 and A52. With a variety of family friendly amenities in the City and quick and easy access to the surrounding countryside, Derby is ideally placed and identified as one of the top places to live in the UK.
The development of our brand-new site within the City Centre will provide abundant parking and a new, modern working environment.
