Head of Personal Development job summary
We are looking for someone with a genuine and infectious passion for young people and teaching, who will enthuse and engage the students they teach; someone with high expectations for all students whatever their prior attainment.
The Personal Development (PD) Department is a well-established department which delivers PSHE and Citizenship in discrete lessons and via extracurricular activities.
The focus of the department, as well as fulfilling the increasing statutory requirements of SRE, PSHE and Citizenship, is to deliver broad, engaging and meaningful content that has impact.
The aims of the curriculum are twofold:
• to keep our pupils safe, to manage risk and to make informed decisions surrounding their lifestyle.
• to broaden our pupils’ knowledge and awareness of societal issues; including local, national and global issues and also to encourage our students to become active citizens willing to engage in their communities.
The curriculum is well planned, fully resourced and constantly refined to best meet the needs of students and an ever-changing society and national landscape.
Commitment to safeguarding
Ridgeway Education Trust is committed to safeguarding, equality and promoting the welfare of children and expects staff working in its schools to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory enhanced DBS, references and pre-employment safeguarding checks. All Leadership roles require a Section 128 check. Possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining a post. All cases are considered confidentially according to the nature of role and information disclosed.
