Head of Physics
From September 2020, we are looking to appoint a well-qualified head of physics. The successful candidate will join a forward-thinking department of 14 teachers who are fully committed to innovative teaching methods, which motivate and engage all students.
The successful applicant should have a commitment to classroom excellence and have the potential to lead a department in the future.
Candidates should be able to offer physics to A level and must be able to demonstrate strategies for developing scientific understanding to all levels of ability.
Essential educational requirements
Good honours degree
Qualified teacher status
Essential skills and experience
Ability to undertake teaching of science to all levels of ability up to KS4.
Ability to undertake teaching of physics to all levels of ability up to A level.
An understanding of the learning needs of students to all academic abilities.
Able to motivate students and raise achievement.
Able to lead a team of subject specialists and support staff
Awareness of risk assessment in physics teaching.
Use of ICT in raising student achievement, particularly use of IWB.
Ability to use a variety of teaching/learning styles
Ability to fulfil the "Teachers' Standards"
Good classroom management/appropriate attitudes to use of authority and maintaining discipline.
Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
TLR 2.1 £3,108 per annum
