Head of Primary job summary
Harris Garrard Academy are looking to appoint an experienced primary school senior leader as a Head of Primary. The successful post holder will work with the Executive Director in overseeing the primary phase of our all through academy.
Your opportunity
The post would suit an experienced senior leader looking for their first substantive post as Head of Primary, or an experienced school leader looking to develop their leadership skills within a rewarding and highly supportive environment. We will provide all the support needed in the form of individual mentoring from an experienced Harris Principal, and can offer opportunities for progression with the option to support you through our National Professional Qualification programmes. The course draws on the leadership expertise of Harris executive leaders and Directors as well as other successful MATs from across the country.
We will invest in you with top coaching, mentoring and top quality training programme delivered through our Teaching School. With Harris, you have a platform to collaborate, share best practice and be at the forefront of new and innovative approaches within education. Whether you are an experienced Principal, or preparing for your first principalship, we can equip you with the experience, knowledge and training to achieve your next career goal.

You should be a strong communicator with proven strengths in engaging, inspiring and motivating staff at all levels, and working with local communities to bring about change. The successful candidate will need a strong track record of school improvement.

Harris Garrard Academy is an all-through 3–18 academy with approximately 1350 pupils on roll and joined the Harris Federation as a sponsored academy in September 2017. The academy is based in Thamesmead in a purpose built building.
