Head of School - Juniors job summary
Head of School (Juniors)
Ashdown Primary School in Crowborough is looking for a Head of School for the Junior Site from Easter 2021 or sooner.
We are a two form entry, split site school, with an OfSTED rating of good (2018).
We value every child for what they are and prepare them for everything they could be.
We need a new Head of School to lead our Junior Site. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the Junior Site (KS2). You will work alongside the Head of School for the Infant Site, under the leadership of our “hands on” Executive Headteacher, Mrs Kate Owbridge.
This job promises all the things that are great about headship:
1) Enabling great children to achieve.
2) Shaping your own staff.
3) Collaborating with strong governors.
4) Working with supportive parents.
5) Making your mark in a school that is going places.
You will have the freedom to run your own site, as well as having responsibility for assessment and staff CPD across the whole school (EYFS, KS1 & KS2), but with the comfort of knowing the buck stops with the Executive Head!
Visits to the school are very strongly encouraged and tours will be with the Exec Head. Please note that the school is currently closed for the summer holidays, so we will be unable to respond to applications until 3rd September.
Ashdown Primary School commits and expects its staff to commit to East Sussex County Council’s Equal Opportunities policies.
Ashdown Primary School also takes its safeguarding responsibilities extremely seriously and is committed to keeping children safe. This post is subject to satisfactory references, DBS checks, and questions will be asked at interview and of referees as to the suitability of candidates to work with children.

Ashdown Primary School was opened in September 2015 after Whitehill Infants and Herne Juniors amalgamated. We are one school over two sites (one infant, one junior). We have an Executive Head who leads the whole school and a Head of School at each site.
We have 425 children on roll, with low numbers of SEND and Pupil Premium children.
Our parents are very supportive, with an active parents’ forum and a hugely successful PTA (Friends of Ashdown Primary School).
