Head of Science job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Head of Science who wants to join and lead an excellent department. This post is suitable for someone who would like to widen their experience, someone who will embrace the opportunities of working in a Leading-Edge school. This post offers real opportunities for professional and career development. The successful candidate will be part of a strong team, all of whom are qualified scientists, supported by five technicians. In addition to the Head of Department and Second in Department, there are three further post holders within the department. Science is taught in ten dedicated laboratories. All labs are wireless networked and have data projectors and screens. At KS3, students follow the "Activate" course and are taught in mixed ability classes. At KS4 all students are either studying for Combined Science [trilogy] or separate sciences from the start of Year 9. At KS5 we offer A levels in Biology (Edexcel), Chemistry (OCR) and Physics (OCR). Take-up of sciences in our Sixth Form is impressive; over half of the sixth form students choose at least one science A level. We also offer BTEC National Level 3 Extended Certificate in Applied Science.
