The Blue Coat School is seeking to appoint an exceptional Head of Science to lead our successful and well-resourced department. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher and leader to shape the strategic direction of Science across Key Stages 3 and 4 whilst driving excellence in teaching, learning and student achievement. Our Science department is highly regarded within the school, offering both Combined Science and Triple Science at Key Stage 4, alongside a range of enrichment opportunities that inspire curiosity, creativity and a love of learning.

We are looking for a dynamic and innovative leader who possesses the talent, enthusiasm and determination to lead Science and further develop a culture of excellence across the department. As Head of Science, you will provide strategic leadership for the subject, ensuring a high-quality curriculum, exceptional classroom practice and strong outcomes for all learners. You will play a key role in developing colleagues, sharing best practice and embedding high expectations throughout the department.

Have a proven track record of excellent classroom practice and securing strong outcomes in Science.
Have experience of leading and developing teaching, learning and assessment to raise standards and improve student achievement.

Be passionate about curriculum development and innovative pedagogy.
Have high expectations of themselves, their team and their students.
Possess excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
Be committed to ensuring every student achieves their full potential.

Be enthusiastic about contributing to the wider life of the school, including enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities.
Have a thorough understanding of current curriculum developments in Science and a commitment to delivering an ambitious and engaging curriculum.
