About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Heron Hall Academy as our Head of Sixth Form and play a key role in shaping the future of our growing post-16 provision.

You will lead our Sixth Form with ambition, creating a positive and inspiring environment where students are supported to achieve their potential and take their next steps with confidence. You will drive academic progress, strengthen the student experience and continue to develop an ambitious and engaging Sixth Form offer.

Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and colleagues across the Academy, you will lead the academic, pastoral and personal development of our Year 12 and 13 students, while building strong relationships with families, universities, employers and apprenticeship providers.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an ambitious and experienced educational leader who is passionate about helping young people achieve their academic, personal and future goals.

You will have:

  • Strong experience of teaching in secondary education, including at Key Stage 5.
  • A proven track record of improving outcomes and driving positive change.
  • Experience of leading and developing Sixth Form or post-16 provision.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire, support and develop staff.
  • A good understanding of post-16 curriculum, assessment and progression routes.
  • The ability to use data effectively to identify priorities and improve student outcomes.
  • A commitment to high expectations, inclusion, safeguarding and student wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff and external partners.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed and move confidently into their next steps.
