Head of Sixth Form job summary

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, ambitious individual who will promote and contribute to the continued development of our sixth form provision. We have approximately 250 students in the sixth form, who are overseen by the Head of Sixth Form, supported by the Deputy Head of Sixth Form and a Pastoral Support Team. We are extremely proud of recent recognition from Ofsted who graded the sixth form ‘outstanding’ in May 2019; this truly is an excellent opportunity for a first-rate practitioner to lead the sixth form to further success. Teaching commitment (no preference for subject offered) is likely to be around 0.5 FTE. Our desire to be one of the very top non-selective, comprehensive sixth forms nationally continues with great enthusiasm and this appointment is a key factor in ensuring that we achieve that ambition. We hope our application pack will give you a better understanding of The Burgate School and Sixth Form and encourage you to apply. Interviews for this position will be held on Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 October 2021. Disclaimer You are advised to submit your application as soon as possible because we reserve the right to close a vacancy earlier than the advertised date if we have received sufficient applications that meet the given criteria. Safeguarding Statement The Burgate School & Sixth Form is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. Any offer of a post will be conditional subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check as well as other relevant pre-employment checks including satisfactory references and medical clearance. As this is a post in regulated activity, the DBS check will include a children's barred list check. It is an offence to seek employment in regulated activity if you are on a barred list. All positions within The Burgate School and Sixth Form are exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. A copy of our Child Protection policy and our policy on the employment of ex-offenders form part of the application pack for this post and are also available to view on The Burgate School and Sixth Form’s website at: https://www.theburgate.com/policies
