Head of Year job summary

Pix Brook Academy is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Head of Year to lead the academic progress and pastoral care for one of our year groups. In this pivotal middle leadership role, you will champion our academy's values while ensuring a supportive, high-achieving, and purposeful environment for every student.

As a Head of Year, you will act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) and manage a dedicated team of form tutors. You will use data and insights to track student performance, coordinate interventions, and foster strong home-school partnerships. This is an exciting opportunity to embody our ethos, celebrate student success, and drive continuous improvement across the academy.

Subject Expertise and Leadership Alongside your pastoral responsibilities, this role requires strong subject expertise in one of the following key curriculum areas: Food Technology, French, Science, History, or Mathematics. You will model teaching excellence, use your subject knowledge to drive academic outcomes, and support staff in raising teaching standards across the school.

We have a staff body who, while small, are equally driven to achieve great things and who work together fantastically well - we have a pupil body of superb young people who enjoy coming to school and are equally motivated to succeed.

If our values of Polite, Prepared, Positive, Proud & Perseverant resonate with yours and you would like to join our friendly team, then we would be delighted to meet with you.

We reserve the right to review applications and appoint a candidate prior to the closing date.
