Head of Year job summary
The successful candidate will engage with parents to build and maintain positive relationships with the community and maintain excellent records of intervention, supporting the graduated approach to pastoral support.
Year Leaders model good student conduct, dress code and professionalism. They are supportive of the school culture and instrumental in removing barriers to enable students to meet the demands of the classroom.
The Role
To work as part of the Pastoral Team at the direction of the Assistant Principal to support students' learning
Monitor and intervene where appropriate, to uphold the Academy standards including behaviour, attendance, attitude and uniform.
Carry out daily climate walks and monitor the academy climate and culture.
Communicate clearly with parents with regards to praise, sanctions and interventions.
Ensure prompt and accurate record keeping of student files and entries onto recording systems (CPOMS and Arbor)
Undertake investigations into more complex cases as required at the direction of the Assistant Principal and ensure accurate and timely reporting of findings.
Undertake mediation between groups of students as required to resolve points of conflict
Develop the academy’s range of interventions to support students.
Support the R and R Manager and provide cover for this area if required.
Work with the Attendance Team to improve student attendance through monitoring, phone calls, home visits, and attending meetings as necessary.
Under the guidance of the Assistant Principal, work with individuals and groups of students to help them achieve the best of their ability.
Attend roll call to complete welfare checks on key students and focus groups.
