Head of Year (Non-teaching) job summary
We are looking to appoint a driven and ambitious Head of Year who will support our students through their time at Spen Valley High School and stay with them as they progress through the school to Year 11. This role is to oversee our current Year 7s.
This role is challenging yet highly rewarding and the successful candidate will be a key part of a busy secondary school, making a real difference to the lives of our students. We are looking for someone who has experience in a pastoral role, and possesses drive and determination, is proactive and shows initiative. We want someone with high levels of emotional intelligence and who can work both one-to-one with a student yet also has the presence and personality to engage a whole year group in an assembly.
As Head of Year, you will provide leadership of this year group providing practical support to students with their learning, developing their social skills, and securing their social emotional and physical wellbeing. You will identify any barriers to achievement that our students may face and work closely with their parents/carers and other colleagues to remove these.
In this role you will work alongside a team of highly professional & dedicated staff, who are welcoming, courageous, open-minded and supportive. The working hours for this role are 37 (8am - 4pm with a 3.30pm finish once a week) on a term time plus 5 days contract.
