Job Title: Head of Year (Pastoral Support Lead)
Actual Annual Salary: £33,951 - £36,222 - based on hours and weeks worked.
Full Time Equivalent Salary: £39,649 - £42,301 (CLF Grade F) based on full time hours, all year round.
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week - Full Time, Term Time Only plus 5 insets

Head of Year will lead pastoral support across a key group. You will create a sense of ‘identity and community’ and will provide a high level of care to all students by promoting wellbeing and attainment and providing support and challenge for pupils and their families.
You will work proactively and preventatively to ensure students are supported to achieve and progress in their education. The successful candidate will promote the highest standards of engagement, behaviour, conduct and attitudes in all students in the group, also monitoring and supporting academic and social development across the group, undertaking interventions where appropriate to support the most vulnerable learners.
This is a new role within the Academy as we have change from a 'Head of House' structure to 'Head of Year’ as an Academy we have a high percentage of children with SEN needs and Pupil Premium.
About you:
You will have:
- Qualification with behaviour and/or SEND element (e.g. NPSLBA) or other relevant qualification in behavioural support work and/or equivalent experience.
- Advanced knowledge of safeguarding within an educational setting.
- Knowledge of legislation, guidance, and relevant research which inform safeguarding practices, including low level concerns.
- Knowledge and understanding of current issues relevant to Inclusion and Raising Achievement.
- Knowledge of the academy’s legal responsibilities in monitoring attendance.
- Child Protection and/or Advanced Safeguarding trained, or willingness to undertake training.
- An appropriate First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training.
- Full driving licence and access to vehicle with business insurance.
