About the Role
This is a hands-on role where you’ll be at the heart of supporting vulnerable students to thrive. You’ll supervise students to create a safe and positive environment, helping them to improve behaviour and achieve their full potential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering individual and small group interventions to boost engagement, attendance, confidence, and self-esteem.
- Working closely with school staff, families, and external agencies to provide consistent support and access to specialist services.
- Monitoring and evaluating interventions, keeping clear records and reporting progress to the Behaviour Lead and senior leadership team.
- Supporting behaviour management systems, including ready to learn supervision and lunchtime duties.
- Being part of our first aid team, responding to illness and injury when needed.
- Investigating incidents, liaising with parents, and providing ongoing support to students.
This role is key to our student-centred approach, where every young person has the opportunity to thrive. You’ll be part of a dedicated team that values collaboration, compassion, and commitment to excellence.
About You
You are a natural role model who thrives on making a difference in young people’s lives. Personable, approachable, and a self-starter, you bring energy and empathy to every interaction. You’re committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students, and you have the resilience to remain calm and de-escalate challenging situations while maintaining confidentiality.
You’ll have:
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- A tactful, polite, and helpful manner when working with colleagues, parents, pupils, and senior leaders.
- The confidence to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Experience of supporting vulnerable or disadvantaged students, ideally backed by NVQ Level 3 in Learning Development and Support Services (or equivalent experience).
Above all, you’ll be motivated by helping students overcome barriers to learning, building their confidence, and enabling them to reach their full potential.

Everything at Mangotsfield School is based around its school
values driven by Headteacher, Hetty Blackmore. Having first
joined the school as a newly qualified teacher when she was
23 years old and returned to lead it later in her career, she is
very proud of the journey the school is on.
Mangotsfield School is proud to serve its community and has
been part of the local community since 1957. They have just
celebrated being rated as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted (visit
March 2022).
There are wonderful resources and facilities on site, allowing
students to embrace curricular and extra-curricular
challenges from DT, art, dance, drama and a climbing wall to
name a few. There is a lot of open space, which is green and
calm. And this sense of calm is echoed in the school itself.
The school has a proud sporting history and teams have
travelled as far as Wembley to take part in national
competitions. The school is also on a mission to broaden
horizons with many co-curricular trips taking place, such as a
Year 7 trip to Slimbridge Wetlands for art research and a
Year 8 trip to Tyntesfield House to explore gothic horror
within the English curriculum.
