Head of Year & Transition Lead job summary

Merstham Park School is seeking an exceptional and dedicated Head of Year and Transition Lead to play a pivotal non‑teaching role at the heart of our pastoral provision.

Your Opportunity 

This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on students at a critical stage in their education, guiding them through a smooth and successful transition from primary to secondary school. As the driving force behind the wellbeing, progress and day‑to‑day experience of our Year 7 and Year 8 students, you will champion a culture where every child is known, supported and inspired to thrive academically, socially and emotionally within a safe, ambitious and inclusive environment.

  • Evidence of commitment to continuing professional learning
  • Able to work with and champion vulnerable children to achieve positive behaviour outcomes
  • Able to promote high standards of behaviour and a good working ethos
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, plan and manage competing demands. 
  • Proven ability to build positive, professional relationships with students, parents and staff.

The Details

Start Date: 1st September 2026

Salary: GLF Associate Specialist Point 1 - £27,061 to Point 12 £27,742 (dependent on experience)

Actual Salary: £23,877 to £26,243 (dependent on experience)

Hours: 36 hours per week, 40 weeks per year 

Closing Date: 25th June - 9am
