What skills and experience we're looking for

  • Qualified to a good honours degree level
  • Qualified Teacher status
  • Evidence of appropriate professional development for the role of Head teacher
  • Has successfully undertaken appropriate training for the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead or has a commitment to do so
  • Has undertaken the Secretary of States Safer Recruitment training or has a commitment oto do so within 12 months of taking up the post
  • Recent significant and successful leadership as a Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, Head of School or Assistant Headteacher

  • Recent significant and successful leadership as a Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, Head of School or Assistant Headteacher
  • Ability to articulate a clear vision for the school and its future development
  • Aptitude to think strategically and plan for educational improvement
  • Involvement in school self-evaluation, development planning and driving priorities forward
  • Experience of curriculum leadership and development
  • Proven experience of reviewing, evaluating and improving teaching and learning to raise standards which have positively impacted on outcomes for all children including those with SEND
  • Have an awareness of the financial management of a school and the need for financial accountability
  • Knowledge and understanding of strategic financial planning and budgetary management, particularly in relation to their contribution to school improvement and pupil achievement
  • Had responsibility for policy development and implementation
  • Have an up to date knowledge and understanding of key legislation particularly in relation to working with and protection of children
  • Demonstrate a good awareness of current national and local educational policy and strategy
  • Experience of leading effective staff development across Primary age range, e.g. coaching, mentoring, INSET for staff)
  • Evidence of working effectively with a Governing Board
  • The ability to provide advice and support to the Governing Board to enable it to meet its responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding and rationale for behaviour management and a proven track record of the effective implementation of a range of behaviour management strategies
  • Experience of working with and engaging positively with parents to promote the caring family/community culture and ethos of the school

Governors are looking for a passionate, talented and ambitious Headteacher keen to take on a challenge leading Corinthian Community Primary School on its journey of rapid improvement. This is a unique opportunity to effect real change and to be involved with a whole system transformation.

The Headteacher will play a central role in this transformation, driving change and improvement by inspiring and supporting their team, encouraging innovation and different ways of doing things.

The new Headteacher will be ambitious, with a deep aspiration to drive and sustain improvement. They must be able to thrive under pressure, be solutions-focused and share the Governors’ vision to improve lives through the power of learning.

The role welcomes experienced Headteachers and Deputy Headteachers ready to progress from either a mainstream (primary or secondary) or specialist education background.

The Governors at Corinthian Primary School are seeking a Head Teacher to take up post in September 2024 or as soon after as possible.

The school currently has a 20-place resource provision for children with MLD/SLD needs and an all year-round daycare provision for children from birth to 4 years. The school is situated on 2 sites, one site hosting the Children's Centre, school Early Years and Daycare, and the other site hosting KS1 and 2 including the SEND resource provision.
