What skills and experience we're looking for
Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, together with the Local Monitoring Committee of Bodriggy Academy, are seeking to appoint a dynamic and committed Headteacher to join the team. Bodriggy Academy is a happy, creative and exciting place to be, our children enjoy coming to school, and our committed staff ensure it is a place where learning and fun go hand in hand by providing many opportunities to explore, investigate and be creative. We seek to instil a positive ethos of high expectations and respect for one another. We pride ourselves on our caring, nurturing and engaging environment, in which every child can thrive, feel safe and achieve. As a result, our children feel good about themselves, are happy and love coming to school. Relationships are central to our success, and we value working closely with our families and the local community.
Bodriggy Academy is a 1.5‑form entry primary school with two Reception classes and mixed‑age classes across KS1 and KS2. We have our own teacher‑led, term‑time‑only Nursery for three and four‑year‑olds, with plans to grow to meet the needs of the rapidly increasing population within the town. Our school site must be seen to be fully appreciated, with a strong culture of inclusion and belonging, supported by modern buildings, innovative technology, calming décor and extensive fields and playground spaces. However, our most important resource is our people. We are a large team with a wide and varied skill set, united by a shared commitment to placing children at the centre of everything we do.
At Bodriggy, becoming Headteacher means becoming part of the Bodriggy Family. Inclusion, community and childhood lie at the heart of who we are. We celebrate each child as an individual, valuing their voice, their identity and their journey, and we are proud of the inclusive practice that ensures every pupil feels they truly belong. Childhood at Bodriggy is cherished and protected; we believe it should be filled with curiosity, kindness, joy and opportunity. Our school sits at the heart of its community, and we are deeply committed to working together, staff, pupils, families and partners, to create a school where everyone feels welcome, valued and inspired to flourish.
