What skills and experience we're looking for

Following the retirement of our well respected Headteacher, The Governing Body of Bulwell St. Mary’s C of E Primary and Nursery School and Transform Trust are seeking to appoint an aspirational Headteacher who can lead the school forward with integrity, enthusiasm and courage. Our new leader will be passionate about excellence in teaching and learning, enabling all children to flourish and thrive as well as supporting our committed, dedicated staff team to be creative and inventive. You will also relish the opportunity to embrace and enhance the relationships in place with our community and parents, recognising the incredible value they bring to our school.

BulwellSt Mary's is a Church of England School in the Nottingham City catchment, where children from a variety of backgrounds come together to learn, grow and flourish in a supportive, nurturing Christian community. We are a Take Care school in which everyone is welcome.

We are a school of choice and popular in the community. Our last Ofsted and SIAMs inspections judged our school as good.

We believe this is a fantastic opportunity for a senior leader to continue to make a difference to our whole school community. This would ideally suit someone who is an experienced Deputy or Head of School ready to lead in their first headship. You will be mentored by an existing Headteacher from across the Trust as part of your introduction into the role.

Our new Head Teacher will:

  • Have a commitment to and understanding of the importance of our faith as a Church of England School
  • Have proven senior leadership experience within a primary age-range school.
  • Be an ambitious and inspirational leader, able to motivate and empower staff and children to achieve their full potential.
  • Have a determination to drive standards across the school and the ability to do so effectively.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, able to build on and maintain strong relationships with staff, parents and carers, children, governors, the church and the local and wider community.
  • Inspire a passion in others so as to create leaders at every level throughout the school
  • Care passionately about children and their development with high expectations for attainment and progress.

What the school offers its staff

Being part of Transform Trust means that you will have access to the following:

  • peer to peer networking, collaboration, challenge and support;
  • the security of working in a climate of shared accountability
  • investment in your professional development and future career
  • opportunities to contribute to the development of a growing organisation and
  • access to a range of core services that enable you to focus on leading, teaching and learning

we can offer:

  • The opportunity to be innovative in supporting school improvement and to make a real difference to the lives of children.
  • Motivated, friendly and hardworking children.
  • A welcoming community and a highly motivated, professional staff team that are driven towards continuously raising standards.
  • Calm and purposeful learning environments
  • Excellent partnerships between pupils, staff, parents, governors, Transform Trust, the Church and community
  • The opportunity to join a fast growing, well respected and highly effective Trust that embraces each individual member schools’ identity and staff groups.

We believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially. To help children reach their fullest potential in these areas we provide an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking and invites the sharing of ideas.

Teachers at Bulwell St Mary’s are committed and dedicated to improving themselves and the children they teach. They create lessons that foster opportunities for individual discovery so that there is a passion developed for learning that is contagious and inspires success.

We are a Church of England school that focuses on a key value each half term. This allows our children to grow as individuals and interact positively with each other in all situations they encounter. The values are a way of life rather than a set of rules to be followed which allows our children to become respectful, thoughtful, content and HAPPY.

Community participation plays an important role in promoting our children’s learning. We provide many opportunities to involve parents and carers from an early age.

Parents and carers are welcomed in to school as volunteers they are also encouraged to join an active PTFA who work hard to provide enrichment opportunities for the children at Bulwell St Mary’s.

We look forward to supporting you along your journey.
