Bury Church of England High School, with its long and distinguished history, is proud to be a part of the Bishop Fraser Trust family of Schools, which provides a great opportunity to work closely with other Trust schools, sharing good practice and building on our ongoing progress. Our commitment to Christian values and our motto 'Let your light shine' guide us in providing a safe and caring community where every individual can flourish.
We are seeking a Headteacher of significant calibre to take the helm of our Church of England secondary school.
You will lead a committed Senior Leadership Team, providing the clarity and direction needed to drive whole-school priorities while nurturing our distinct Christian character. Our ideal candidate is an established leader—or a high-performing Deputy ready for their first headship—who prioritises long-term impact over short-term gains. You will be a visible, inspiring presence for our pupils and a trusted partner for our families. If you have a proven track record of elevating standards and a passion for developing young people who are prepared to make a meaningful difference in the world, this is the role for you.
WE ARE SEEKING A PASSIONATE CANDIDATE WHO:
· Belief in the worth and potential of every pupil
· The ability to implement and secure change successfully
· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to lead and inspire colleagues
· A passion and drive for improvement
· Experience of growing quality education provision to ensure our vision for our pupil is realised
YOUR MAIN DUTIES WOULD BE:
To provide vision, leadership, and management for the school so that an environment is created in which all the principles of Christian Education described in the school’s Mission Statement can operate and flourish.
· To nurture a Christian community which values and supports its members and partners.
· To ensure that an environment exists that encourages the highest standards of teaching, learning and achievement.
· To establish, model and communicate a shared vision for the school.
· To ensure the whole school community, pupils, parents and staff, can work together effectively and make the most of each member’s contribution.
IN RETURN, WE OFFER:
· Continuous Professional Development (CPD): Access to National College training, subject-specific CPD, leadership pathways, and mentoring programs.
· Career Progression: Clear pathways for growth, from early careers to leadership roles. We use a ‘touch base’ informal approach to focus on professional development as well as an annual career conversation with your manager.
· Wellbeing & Support: Leadership training focused on wellbeing, mental health resources, and staff networks.
· Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI): Commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace, with ongoing EDI training and initiatives.
· Automatic pay progression for teachers – we don’t have performance related appraisals and pay reviews
· A paid premium to a Healthcare Cash Plan to claim back contributions towards dental, optical and other medical costs via UK Healthcare
· 24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Programme
· Benefits and discounts via UK Healthcare
