Headteacher job summary

Greensand Multi Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspiring school leader to take on the role of Headteacher at Dovers Green School.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to lead a nurturing infant school at an important and positive point in its development. Dovers Green School is a welcoming, inclusive community where children are known, valued and supported to flourish in their earliest years of education. The school also benefits from a well established ASD unit, providing specialist provision and expertise that is integral to the school’s inclusive ethos.

As an infant school, Dovers Green places great importance on strong foundations - socially, emotionally and academically. Playful, engaging learning, strong relationships with families, and a deep understanding of early childhood development sit at the heart of the school’s approach. The successful candidate will be passionate about Early Years and Key Stage 1 education and committed to ensuring that every child gets the very best possible start.

The school is entering a planned and carefully managed period of change, reducing in size to reflect evolving local demographics. This presents a positive opportunity for the next Headteacher to shape a sustainable, high quality school offer, with a clear focus on educational excellence, inclusion and staff wellbeing. With fewer pupils, there is scope to strengthen practice, refine provision and further enhance the sense of community that already defines Dovers Green.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an experienced senior leader with a strong understanding of early years and infant education, committed to high standards of teaching and learning
  • Have the ability to lead an inclusive school community, with a clear commitment to meeting the needs of all learners, including those within specialist ASD provision
  • Provide clear, calm and compassionate leadership during a period of planned organisational change, ensuring stability and confidence for pupils, staff and families
  • Establish and sustain the school and Trust’s ethos and strategic direction, working in close partnership with Trust leadership, governors and the wider school community
  • Uphold ambitious, inclusive and progressive educational standards, with a strong focus on child development and wellbeing
  • Have the commitment, resilience and vision to make a lasting and positive impact on the lives of young children
