What skills and experience we're looking for

This role is a result of the trust growing in the number of schools. From September we will have three secondary schools and be on course to be ten schools in total by September 2025. Hazel Wood has gone through a journey of complete transformation. The trust has supported the school to move from special measures to good, with results moving from the bottom 10% nationally to above average outcomes. Following a period of significant change the school is well settled and ready for its next stage of development towards being truly world class.

We are seeking to appoint an inspiring, compassionate and dedicated Headteacher who is eager to make an impact and works to build strong, supportive connections with staff, pupils, families and the wider community. This role would suit a Deputy Head ready for that next steps in their career who can be confident of getting all the support necessary to seamlessly that step into headship. Or you may be an existing Head who wants a new challenge alongside joining a trust which is growing at pace and want to keep hold of their talented leaders. You will be well supported by a highly successful executive team and have access to a wide ranging improvement offer from the trust. We want our Heads to be able to focus on quality of education, we have central staff, systems and processes that make this possible.

Visits to the school, prior to application, are both welcomed and encouraged. Please contact Tim Spencer, School Business Manager on 0161 797 6543 or by e-mailing enquiries@hazelwood.oaklp.co.uk to arrange an appointment with the Executive Head of Secondary Schools, Paul Greenhalgh.

To arrange an informal conversation with James Franklin-Smith, CEO, please contact Joanne Gee, Business Support Officer, on 0161 553 0030 or by emailing gee.j@oaklp.co.uk.
