What skills and experience we're looking for

The next Headteacher will need to:

  • protect and strengthen the culture of high expectations
  • ensure consistency across all areas of the school
  • build on strong behaviour and attitudes to drive further academic outcomes
  • be passionate about inclusion, ensuring every pupil – including those with SEND – is given the opportunity to flourish
  • continue to develop the curriculum so that it is ambitious for all learners
  • balance warmth with firm leadership

This is a school with a clear identity. The opportunity is to build on that, not replace it.

What the school needs now

High Ercall is in a strong position, and the next Headteacher will be stepping into a school where the foundations are firmly in place. What the Governors are looking for is a leader who will:

  • Sustain and build on the consistency in teaching, assessment and high expectations that runs through the school
  • Continue to champion strong SEND provision, ensuring it grows and evolves with the needs of the community

  • Take forward the school's commitment to an ambitious curriculum and strong pupil outcomes
  • Uphold and develop the robust safeguarding culture that is central to school life
  • Be a visible, engaged presence - continuing the hands-on leadership approach that the school values

This is a school that is proud of where it is. The next chapter is about taking that strong foundation and reaching even higher.

This is a hands-on role in a small school where leadership is highly visible.

We are looking for someone who:

- Sets high expectations and follows through

- Is confident leading teaching and learning improvements

- Can balance strategic leadership with operational delivery

- Builds strong relationships with staff, pupils, governors and parents

- Is resilient, pragmatic and solutions-focused

What the school offers its staff

We offer:

- A committed and experienced staff team

- Supportive and engaged governors

- Well-behaved pupils who enjoy learning

- A strong sense of community

- The opportunity to shape the next phase of the school
